ABOUT
INDIGENOUS CULTURAL EDUCATION CENTER, INC.
Indigenous Cultural Education Center is a 501c3 not for profit
organization founded by Linda and John Reed. We are based in Lebanon, CT
on 13 acres of pristine farmland.
Indigenous People are the descendants of the original people inhabiting
a particular region or country. Most of us, individually and
collectively, have lost touch with our origins over the centuries; lost
touch with the fact that we are all indigenous to somewhere and
therefore all connected in this way. We originate from tribes, (in the
true sense of the word, communities), from the Highlands of Scotland,
Steps of Russia, Plains of Africa, Grasslands and Forests of the
Americas, Outback of Australia, Ice Flows of the North and ultimately
from the Creator. In this way we are all one People. We focus on
inclusion not assimilation or exclusion. This is at the base of our
purpose and resolve. ICEC was
organized to provide opportunity to experience the cultures and
spiritual practices of Indigenous Peoples of the Americas and around the
world, to become aware of the contributions of Indigenous People to the
world’s culture, and to understand how the knowledge and wisdom of the
Indigenous Peoples can be applied to alleviate many of the problems we
face in the 21st century. We host
educational experiences, seminars, and experiential workshops lead by
leaders of Tribal Communities from North and South America. We welcome
individuals and groups to participate.
We host Indigenous People of North & South America who lead prayer
ceremonies with the intention of healing ourselves; to create a
consciousness that we all affect each other and the world.
Prayer ceremonies are open to those people who feel a commitment to the
responsibility of becoming healthy in their thoughts and their actions
in relation to the self and the collective whole. In honoring the
relationship between humanity and planet earth we intend to bring
awareness and heighten our consciousness as individuals. In so doing we
awaken and elevate group consciousness. We believe that all things are
alive and living and we believe in honoring those things that sustain
us. |
