Elders and Youth Farming Project

Read an article by Linda Reed on the Lebanon Community Garden
that appeared in the Lebanon Quarterly, March 2011 edition

This project is intended to bring the Elders or Senior Citizens together with our youth in order to create community within that group. The elders have years of knowledge and life stories that can enhance the quality of a youth's life. This fosters awareness and appreciation for the wisdom that Elders bring to the table. Youth bring energy and curiosity and purpose and inclusion to the Elders

Permaculture/organic and sustainable farming will be implemented, growing crops in a healthy way, bringing the seeds or plants one has planted to harvest will be very satisfying for all involved, and finally, help those elders that otherwise would not have fresh and healthy foods to eat

This project is intended to become self sustaining, creating an income to support and expand this project in future years. This offers a truly satisfying growth experience in so many ways. Please support this cause. You can also read the Farming Program Press Release (small PDF file).
